Completed in 1926 as a gravel path, and remaining unpaved until 1962, the Road to Hana made travel along the north short of Maui possible. Stretching 52 miles, and crossing more than 50 bridges, the winding highway weaves through the finest scenery the island has to offer. Beyond Hana, the road crossed ʻOheʻo Gulch to grant access to the Kīpahulu District of Haleakalā National Park.
