The puʻuhonua, or 'place of refuge', is a lovely 420-acre historical park on the west coast of Hawaiʻi Island in the district of Hōnaunau. Hale o Keawe is a main feature of this unique site, once holding the bones and spiritual power of over 20 high chiefs of old Hawaiʻi.
The hale is protected by several kiʻi (wooden images of the gods) that act as spiritual protectors and signify that this is a special and important place.
A popular collectible, this enameled hiking medallion is 1.75 inches in diameter.
